Mitchell joined Burchells as a Summer Law Student in 2017 and returned as an Articled Clerk in 2018. Mitchell began as an associate with Burchells in 2019.
Mitchell received his JD from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2018. Prior to attending law school, Mitchell obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Waterloo in 2014, as a graduate of the Legal Studies & Business (Co-op) program; he also received the university’s Student Leadership Program Certificate. Mitchell was an active member of the University of Waterloo student community as a St. Jerome’s University Residence Don and Community Advisor, Residence Council Member, and Student Ambassador. In his final year at Waterloo, he was part of the Executive Committee which organized and hosted a mergers & acquisitions and business negotiation competition in Toronto for undergraduate students.
Mitchell is building a practice in the areas of corporate and commercial law, commercial and residential property, and estate planning. He also enjoys working with lenders and borrowers to facilitate credit transactions.
Mitchell was born in Halifax and was raised in Mississauga, Ontario. He is happy to have returned home to Nova Scotia, where his family is scattered throughout the province. In his spare time, Mitchell enjoys playing sports (golf and basketball, in particular), as well as cooking and spending time with friends and family.
Mitchell was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2019. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
