Wayne has practiced
with the firm since his call to the Bar in 1987, and has been
a Partner since 1993. He attended Mount Allison University
and earned his Law degree at Dalhousie Law School.
Business law matters, including the formation of new enterprises,
purchase and sale of businesses, corporate reorganization
and financing are the core of Wayne's practice. Business owners
also rely on his expertise in estate planning and tax matters
to properly structure their business holdings and personal
affairs. As well, he regularly deals with a full range of
real estate matters, including commercial and residential
transactions, mechanics' liens and subdivision development,
and acts for both owners and institutional lenders in connection
with commercial financings.
Wayne maintains up-to-date knowledge of his practice areas
through active participation in various legal associations
dedicated to continuing education and furthering the Bar's
interests regarding legislative and other legal developments.
He assists in the Bar's formal training of articling
clerks through the Bar Admission Course and has acted as a
Land Registration Auditor for the Nova Scotia Bar Society
and Service Nova Scotia to review the Opinions and Abstracts
of Title filed by lawyers to assess their compliance with
the requirements of the new Land Registration Act. Wayne
also edits the Nova Scotia chapter of the International Business
Series publication "Legal Aspects of Doing Business in
North America."
Golf, hockey and
tennis are his prime recreational outlets. Wayne lives in
Halifax with his wife Karen and their three sons.
