Paul is a native of Hampton, New Brunswick but has called Halifax his home since moving to the city in 1999. He first joined Burchells LLP as a summer student in 2007.
Paul attended Saint Mary's University where he received his Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) in 2003. Prior to attending Dalhousie Law School he worked for one of Canada's largest financial institutions in various positions, one which took him from Happy Valley, Labrador to Windsor, Ontario with many stops in between.
Paul graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2008. He also received a Certificate in Business law and the Robert T. Donald Memorial Prize for highest standing in Corporate Transactions. While attending law school, Paul was actively involved in Pro Bono Students Canada both as a Student Chair and in a project which allowed him to update and draft policies and guidelines for a non-profit organization here in Halifax.
During the academic year 2010 to 2011, Paul attended the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, England where he completed the requirements for an LL.M. in corporate commercial law.
Paul is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and a volunteer with the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia in the Legal Content Committee. In his free time, Paul enjoys reading and camping. He lives in downtown Halifax with his partner and “Cat,” the cat.
