Andrew Rankin joined Burchells for his articles in June 2000, and became an associate lawyer after being admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2001. Andrew obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor in 2000 and his Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Philosophy) from Saint Mary’s University in 1996. He also possesses a certificate in Chinese Language and Culture from Xiamen University in Xiamen, China in 1996.
Prior to commencing law school, Andrew was employed in the insurance industry as an underwriter and broker, and was a member of the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO).
While at the University of Windsor, Andrew kept busy volunteering with Community Legal Aid as a Group Advisor and Caseworker, fundraising for the Children’s Wish Foundation by helping organize a 5k charity run and participating as a team member on the Windsor Law intramural volleyball team. During his undergraduate year, he competed for the Saint Mary’s University Track and Field team running in the 60m, 300m and 4 x 800m relay. He was also President of the Saint Mary’s Philosophy Society.
In his free time Andrew is an avid road cyclist, enjoys running, playing guitar and is a PADI certified scuba diver. Andrew is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and Bicycle Nova Scotia. He maintains a general practice of law.
