David’s litigation practice consists of acting as counsel for a number of major insurance companies in defence of matters arising from motor vehicle accidents, property damage, and occupiers’ liability claims. He also has broad experience representing corporations, shareholders, small businesses, and individuals in various matters before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia.
His banking and insolvency practice includes acting for major chartered banks, commercial collectors, small businesses, and individuals in all aspects of litigation leading up to and including the enforcement of secured and unsecured debts.
David has extensive experience in education and academic matters, representing students from undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in discipline matters involving allegations of plagiarism, exam irregularities and code of conduct offences. David has also acted for clients in complex academic appeals arising from program suspensions and dismissals, grade appeals, and evaluation irregularities.
Having always been active in the community, David is currently a volunteer coach for the Halifax Hurricanes Lacrosse Association, and sits on the board of the University Children’s Centre. He is a past Executive Director of the Dalhousie Student Advocacy Service. In his spare time, he enjoys playing hockey and golf.
David is a graduate of Simon Fraser University, where he was awarded a B.A. in 1999. He graduated from Dalhousie Law School with an LL.B in 2006, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2007. He is also a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
David, his wife and daughter reside in Halifax with their two dogs.
