Cory is an associate at Burchells who graduated from the University of New Brunswick law school in 2003 and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2004. He has practiced with the Burchells civil litigation group since his admission to the Bar.
Cory’s practice focuses largely on insurance defence litigation (including working with insurers defending motor vehicle claims, as well as occupiers’ liability, property, and business interruption claims), the litigation of construction disputes and other complex commercial, administrative, contractual and tort matters.
Cory has appeared frequently as counsel in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, and the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia. He has also appeared before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Cory is a member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He is currently the Chair of the Civil Litigation/Alternative Dispute Resolution sub-section of the Canada Bar Association – Nova Scotia.
