Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in German from the University of King 's College and Dalhousie University. After graduating, Emily lived in Hamburg and Berlin where she perfected her German while teaching at a high school. She returned to Halifax to attend Dalhousie Law School where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2009.

During Law School Emily volunteered weekly at an immigration clinic, participated in the Jessup International Law Moot and became a member of the Canadian German Lawyers' Association.

When not at work Emily enjoys travelling the globe, cooking with friends and playing piano.

Emily studierte Germanistik an der King's College und Dalhousie Universität. Nach ihrem Studium lebte sie in Berlin und Hamburg, wo sie als Fremsprachenassistentin arbeitete und ihr deutsch perfektionierte. Sie kehrte nach Halifax zurück um an der Dalhousie Law School Jura zu studieren, wo sie 2009 ihren Bachelor of Laws erhielt. Während ihres Jurastudiums engagierte sie sich bei der Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association, nahm am Jessup International Law Wettbewerb teil und wurde Mitglied der Kanadisch-Deutschen Juristenvereinigung.

In ihrer Freizeit reist sie um die Welt, kocht für Freunde und spielt Klavier.
